If anyone out there is new to dealing with limb loss with their child, or maybe finding their role as caregiver changing after a trauma, I cannot recommend this woman’s blog enough! Her son was in a car accident when he was seventeen and suffered multiple injuries including lower limb amputation.

This post has a lot of specific details about dealing with doctors on the road to receiving a prosthesis. She’s funny and candid, and I was surprised to read that she had to ask her son’s doctor to refer a prosthetist, and not the other way around! Just goes to show how important it is to stay informed.

Although this organization is out of Australia, the information in this .pdf is really good stuff. It’s a handbook is with some practical information for parents, family, caregivers and community members who support a child with a limb difference:
    Big hugs from Austin, Texas!
