Gene
Gene was adopted from China at age 3.5 and while he didn’t learn to walk until he was nearly 4, he hasn’t stopped running since. A bilateral below knee amputee, Gene has the heart of a competitor and especially loves soccer and basketball. He is playing his third year of competitive soccer and just finished his first year in competitive basketball. However, his previous prostheses could not keep up with his increasing activity level and despite being quite mobile and active in the past, he was only wearing his prostheses to play sports due to the friction burns, blisters, and bruising he was facing. Now that Gene is a JTF Kid and we were able to help him get the best care possible, he loves his new legs and is back to enjoying his favorite sports and activities pain free! Gene has really grown in his confidence the past year, he is no longer a shy kid. He has really grown into himself and is ready to take on about anything!
