Sharla
Fourteen year old Sharla has been involved in competitive adaptive sports for years and is truly unstoppable as a bilateral above knee amputee. However, she recently had a medical emergency on her left leg, which required surgery that she is now healing from. Once Sharla has fully recovered, she will need both a new set of standard prostheses and a new set of running blades. Sharla is also a competitive swimmer (and wakeboarder!) and hopes to qualify for the 2028 Paralympics in both swimming and running. Sharla’s previous set of running blades did not have knees that bend, which will eventually cause extensive damage to her hips from overuse. We are so excited to be able to help Sharla access the devices she needs to start off her freshman year of high school with as much confidence as possible and help her reach new milestones in her athletics!
